About this service

The Immigration Services Agency of Japan sends "Japan Immigration Service News" to registered email addresses (mobile phones and PCs) in order to deliver news related to procedures for immigration in Japan and daily life support to foreign residents in Japan.
Please make use of this service, which delivers important news from the Immigration Services Agency of Japan in a timely manner.

  • This service is available free of charge.
    * Recipients must bear any communication charges associated with registration and email receipt.
  • You can register with just an email address. You do not need to enter any personal information, such as a name, telephone number, or address.
  • We will use your registered email address only to provide this service.
  • This service only delivers information. You cannot reply to the delivered emails.
  • Emails may be delivered late or fail to be delivered depending on the circumstances, such as the email delivery operator's network and phone signals.

1. Delivery content

You may select from among the following types of delivery content.
Note that urgent or important information, such as large-scale disaster information, will be sent to all registered person.

(1) Procedures for Immigration

News related to immigration procedures at the airports and ports in Japan, for example the start of use of facial recognition automated gates, and other immigration-related information (such as the denial of landing permission and the phased resumption of international travel associated with the spread of COVID-19).

(2) Procedures for Residence

News related to each residence status for foreign residents in Japan, such as guides to the online residence application system and e-Notification system , information for people with specific residency status, and so on.

(3) Residency Support

Daily Life Support Information (By Type)

Notifications of updates to the daily life support information provided on the " A Daily Life Support Portal For Foreign Nationals" website provided by the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.

  • This website provides the "Guidebook on Living and Working," which contains various information required for foreign nationals to live in Japan, useful contact information, and other valuable resources in 14 languages (including plain Japanese).

Notifications of updates to the various language versions of the "A Daily Life Support Portal For Foreign Nationals" website provided by the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.

Other important information

Notifications of support information when unexpected events occur , such as information related to COVID-19 or new types of influenza.
* COVID-19-related daily life support information is delivered under this category.

(4) Regional Information

News for foreign residents within the jurisdictions of each regional immigration services bureau, including provision of information on regional events and special opening/closing dates and the release of warnings and reference information in case there is a risk of localized damage resulting from typhoons, torrential rains, and other natural disasters.

(2) If you wish to change your registered information or cancel your registration

To change your email address or desired delivery content or to cancel your registration, please access the Information Change Form or the Registration Cancellation Form provided in the email and follow the procedure therein.

If you have deleted the email from the Agency, or URL for the Information Change Form or the Registration Cancellation Form has expired (90 days after issuance), please access the URL Re-Issue Form and enter your registered email address. An email that notifies you of the URLs for the Information Change Form or the Registration Cancellation Form will be sent to your registered email address.
