About the Application Proxy System

In principle, the applicant must appear at a Regional Immigration Services Bureau for procedures related to residency applications, such as applying for an extension of period of stay, or changing the details written on their residence card. However, as an exception, the Immigration Services Agency has established a system by which a legal representative or other persons recognized by the Director-General of a Regional Immigration Services Bureau may serve as proxy for applications for the foreign national.
