In accordance to the laws related to personal information held by governmental agencies, anyone can request the disclosure of their own personal information (retained personal information) from the Immigration Services Agency.
Furthermore, anyone can request a revision if the details of the disclosed retained personal information are thought to be inaccurate. They can also request a suspension of use of the information if it is thought to have been acquired, used, or provided by improper means.
In accordance with the principles of the law, the Immigration Services Agency has established the "Immigration Services Agency Retained Personal Information Protection and Management Guidelines - PDF (in Japanese)." The Agency shall strive to protect the rights and interests of individuals by appropriately handling personal information.
