|Individuals subject to procedure||Foreign nationals who want to change their status of residence to "Permanent Resident," as well as those who are eligible by birth.|
|Application period||For those wishing to change their status, applications for permission for permanent residence must be submitted before the expiration date of their current status of residence. (In the event that their status will expire while their application is being processed, applicants will need to submit an application for the extension of their period of stay before then.)
For those eligible for the status by birth (or similar reasons), an application must be submitted within 30 days after the birth.

(Note) An employee of the applicant’s company/school, their spouse, child, sibling, etc. cannot receive the residence card unless they fall under the criteria 1 to 3 above.
