Renewing a "Designated Activities" status of residence (e.g., house staff of diplomats; amateur athletes and their families; internships; specific research activities; information processing activities; graduates of Japanese universities and their families)
Foreign nationals to whom either of the following (1) or (2) apply:
(1) They are the dependent and spouse or child of a foreign national engaging in the activities listed above in points 4 or 5
(2) They are the parents of either the foreign national engaging in points 4 or 5 above or the foreign national's spouse, are living with the foreign national, and are their dependent.
Foreign nationals to whom either of the following (1) or (2) apply:
(1) They wish to be admitted to a hospital (or other health care facility) for medical treatment
(2) They wish to assist a foreign national who has been admitted to a hospital (or other health care facility) for medical treatment
Foreign nationals who wish to participate in the activities outlined in either (1) or (2):
(1) They wish to extend their stay in Japan for a period of less than one year to engage in sightseeing or other recreational activities
(2) They wish to extend their stay to accompany their foreign national spouse in the activities listed above in (1)
* Even with an extension, the period of stay for (1) and (2) may not exceed one year.
Foreign nationals to whom either of the following (1) or (2) apply:
(1) They wish to pursue employment which uses knowledge and Japanese language skills acquired at a Japanese university or graduate school (for graduates of a Japanese institution)
(2) They are the dependent of a foreign national in the activities listed above in (1)
