Counter for reporting compliance concerns regarding the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets

The Agency has established a reporting counter (hereinafter, "reporting counter") based on V4 of the "Standards on Designation, Termination, and Proper Evaluation of Specially Designated Secrets (SDSs) to Ensure Uniform Implementation" (Cabinet decision on October 14, 2014).

1. Reporting counter

This counter will receive reports from people who feel that the designation and termination of Specially Designated Secrets (SDSs) or the management of designated government document files (government document files which include SDSs, same hereinafter) does not comply with the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets based on V4 of the "Standards on Designation, Termination, and Proper Evaluation of SDSs to Ensure Uniform Implementation" (Cabinet decision on October 14, 2014).

2. Those who are able to report

  • People whose work includes handling SDSs in the Immigration Services Agency
  • People whose work included handling SDSs in the Immigration Services Agency
  • People who learned SDSs as their work required that the Immigration Services Agency provide SDSs pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Paragraph 5; Article 9; Article 10; or the latter part of Article 18, Paragraph 4 of the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets

4. Protection of reporting parties

  • Information that could identify the reporting party and other secrets related to the report will be protected.
  • Personal information acquired through the report will not be given to other persons without a proper reason nor used for improper purposes.
  • The reporting party will not receive disadvantageous treatment as a result of reporting.

5. Reminders when reporting

  1. When reporting, please take caution not to reveal information that includes SDSs to the reporting counter.
  2. Reports that will be accepted are limited to those filed by persons who feel that the designation and termination of SDSs or the management of designated governmental document files, etc., does not comply with the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets. This counter will not accept general opinions or questions about the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets.
