Immigration Information Centers

In order to respond to various inquiries regarding immigration and residence procedures, the Immigration Services Agency has established "Immigration Information Centers" at Regional Immigration Services Bureaus and District Immigration Services Offices. Immigration Information Centers are set up to handle telephone, in-person and e-mail inquiries in Japanese and foreign languages.

  • The Immigration Control and Residency Management Administration will refer to opinions and requests received.
  • Please be aware that depending on the setting or model, we may be unable to receive email inquiries sent by cellphone.
  • We sometimes receive inquiries regarding the status of applications for permission for permanent residence. Please note that such inquiries cannot be answered at these Information Centers.

In cooperation with local government consultation counters, One-Stop Consultation Centers have been set up to provide advice and helpful information to foreign residents regarding immigration procedures and daily life in Japan.

Responses to telephone or in-person inquiries are provided in Japanese as well as in foreign languages (English, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, etc.) at these centers.
