Those wishing to be hired as a Specified Skilled Worker must first pass both a technical proficiency test and a Japanese language test.
(Foreign nationals who have successfully completed Technical Intern Training (ii) do not need to take these tests.)

Depending on the country, procedures may need to be completed in the dispatching country.
Organizations accepting specified skilled workers must become a member of the council of their specific field.
