Statistics collected by the Immigration Services Agency

The Immigration Services Agency compiles statistics related to immigration and foreign residents in Japan (formerly registered alien statistics). These are published both monthly (as approximate values) and yearly.

Purpose of collecting statistics

The aim of the Immigration Services Agency in collecting these statistics is to confirm the state of affairs of its various jurisdictions, and for their use as data in the development of new/revised policies.

Immigration Control statistics (number of arrivals (returns) and departures, residence inspections, resident status inspections, deportation procedures, etc.)

Statistics on foreign residents in Japan (formerly, registered alien statistics)
