Activity status of the Immigration Detention Facilities Inspection Committee

Under the provisions of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act Article 61-7-2 amended in 2009 (Heisei 21), the Immigration Detention Facilities Inspection Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "committee") was established in July 2010 (Heisei 22) to conduct inspections and provide third-party opinions of immigration centers, detention centers, and holding facilities to ensure appropriate operation.
In accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act Article 61-7-5, the Minister of Justice has summarized the opinions given by the committee and the details of the measures taken by the heads of the Regional Immigration Services Bureaus and immigration centers (hereinafter referred to as "heads of the immigration centers") as outlined below:

(There is one committee in eastern Japan and one in western Japan.)
