Activity status of the Immigration Detention Facilities Inspection Committee

Under the provisions of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act Article 61-7-2 amended in 2009 (Heisei 21), the Immigration Detention Facilities Inspection Committee (hereinafter referred to as "committee") was established since July 2010 (Heisei 22) to conduct inspections and provide third-party opinions in immigration detention centers and detention centers as well as in departure facilities to ensure appropriate operation.
In accordance to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act Article 61-7-5, the Minister of Justice has summarized the opinions stated by the committee and the immigration detention center that received the opinions or the details of the measures taken by the Regional Immigration Services Bureaus (hereinafter referred to as "head of the immigration detention center") as outlined below.
