There were 993 cases of revocation of status of residence in 2019 (in accordance with Article 22-4, Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act), an increase of 161 cases (19.4%) from the previous year and a record high.
(Note 1) This includes the "Engineer" and "Specialist in Humanities/International Services" statuses of residence prior to the enforcement of the partial revision to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act (Law 74, 2014).
(Note 2) Any mention of the People's Republic of China does not include Taiwan, Hong Kong, or other regions.
(Note 3) The number of statuses of residences revoked in a given category may not necessarily match the total number of statuses of residence revoked, as certain cases fall under more than one item listed in Article 22-4, Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
